Daniel O'Connell (6 August 1775 - 15 May 1847); often referred to as "The Liberator". First elected for County Clare in 1828. He was the pre- eminent figure in Irish politics in the first half of the nineteenth century arguing the case of Catholic Emancipation and he remains a massive figure even now so long after his death.
