The London Badge was issued to members at £1 16s 6d. Rule 10 of the London Club reads: " That each member shall wear, at all the meetings of the Club, the Pitt Medal, tied on his left breast with a garter blue ribbon, and that the larger Medal, with a wider ribbon, be worn by the Chairman of the day." The first dinner for the London Club was held at Merchant Taylors Hall in 1808. On this night 613 bottles of port and 429 bottles of sherry were drunk at a price of £282 and 13 shillings, not surprising then that £20, 7s and 6d was charged for glass and china breakages!
