James 1/ Charles 1, a Pair of Toy Petronels and a Petronel Ramrod, bronze, circa 1630, the guns with an opening on the barrel for igniting the gunpowder, 83 x 5 mm. Good very fine, the metal without any sign of corrosion. £675.00
These toys guns which were fully functioning were popular with children at the beginning of the seventeenth century. Examples,(likes these)are generally metal detector finds. Examples are sometimes found where the barrel has clearly blown up and destroyed the main body.
