Institute of Civil Engineers, Thomas Telford Prize,
This prize, known as the Telford Prize, is the highest award of the Institution and was introduced as a result of a bequest made by Thomas Telford. Gilt examples were awarded from 1853.
Pernolet won the premium for his paper "On the Means of Utilizing the Products of the Distillation of Coal, so as to reduce the Price of Coke; with Descriptions of the Ovens, and of the Best Processes in use in Great Britain and on the Continent, in the Manufacture of Coke," -
