Duke of Cumberland, Horn Snuff Box and Mould, , circa 1746, after Kirk and Pingo, armoured bare head bust right, GULIELMUS DUX CUMBRIAE, rev. the box lid with crushed hematite surround, (MI. 613/279: DW. 14/170). Very fine. £Sold
The portrait on the mould signed Kirk corresponds closely to the medal for the Battle of Culloden while the portrait on the lid of the box is very similar to the admission ticket for Covent Garden produced soon after the battle and is signed T.Pingo.
