Thomas Sackville, 1st Earl of Dorset and Baron Buckhurst (1536-1608). Collaborated and co-wrote with Thomas Norton the “Tragedy of Gorboduc”, the first English tragedy in blank verse, acted in Inner Temple Hall in 1561. He was Grand Master of the Order of Freemasons from 1561-1567 and in 1586 he announced to Mary Queen of Scots her sentence of death. James I appointed Buckhurst, Earl of Dorset, in 1603 so this counter must have been struck prior to this date.
