Tower Bridge Opened, gold and enamel badge, 1894, a view of the bridge with a ship passing through, border of rose, shamrocks and thistle with arms around, rev. , OPENED 30TH JUNE 1894. 37 x 34 mm, pierced with integral loop and ring for suspension. Some damage to the enamel arms on the right, otherwise extremely fine and rare. £Sold
The Times correspondent described the opening of the bascules as "imposing in the same sense as a great convulsion of the natural world; it was an exhibition of resistless force which held the spectators spellbound and speechless."
