Scotland, Bridge at Dunkeld Opened, white metal medal, 1808, view of the bridge, BRIDGE AT DUNKELD/ LENGTH 685 FT BREADTH 27 AND CENTRE/ ARCH IS 90 FEET, rev. BUILT/ BY THE MOST NOBLE / JOHN DUKE OF ATHOLL/ EXPENCE ABOVE L30, 000/ FOUNDED 24TH JUNE1805/ AND OPEN'D THE / 7TH NOVR/ 1808, 50 mm. (BHM, 639). Minor surface marks, otherwise about extremely fine with some original colour. £Sold
The bridge was built by Thomas Telford across the river Tay. After the opening ceremony the Duke of Atholl entertained all the workmen who had worked on the project over the previous three years.
