Catherine of Braganza, silver medal, , 1662, bust of Queen Catherine right, with her hair tied up and ringlets hanging down, rev. St. Catherine, three-quarters facing, resting upon a sword and holding a palm branch; above rays shine down from heaven with a broken wheel at St. Catherine’s feet, PIETATE INSIGNIS (EMINENT FOR PIETY), 43 mm (MI 490/112). Slightly rubbed on the high points, otherwise about extremely fine; toned and rare. £Sold
The Queen was born on 25th November, the Feast of Saint Catherine, and she adopted St. Catherine as her patron saint.
